What is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is a government scheme launched in 2019 by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. It is aimed at providing financial assistance to small and marginal farmers in India. The scheme aims to provide minimum income support to farmers so that they can invest in their farming activities and improve their overall livelihoods.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, income support of ₹6,000 (US$75) per year is provided to all landholding farmer families across the country43. This amount is disbursed in three equal instalments. The definition of a family for the scheme includes the husband, wife, and minor children.

The State Government and Union Territory administration are responsible for identifying the farmer families that are eligible for support as per the scheme guidelines. The funds are directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

First, you need to visit the official website of the scheme at www.pmkisan.gov.in. Next, you need to click on the “New Farmer Registration” option under the “Farmers Corner” section on the right side of the homepage. Then, you need to enter your Aadhaar number and the captcha code and click on “Click here to continue”. 

After that, you need to select your state from the drop-down menu and fill in your details such as name, gender, category, bank account number, mobile number, etc.

Finally, you need to upload the required documents such as land records, Aadhaar card, etc., and submit the registration form. You will receive a confirmation message on your mobile number once your registration is successful. 

After registration, farmers need to undergo verification and Aadhaar-based e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) to complete the process. Biometric verification is mandatory for e-KYC.

The financial assistance is transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. This means that the money is directly credited to the bank accounts of the farmers, eliminating any chances of corruption or misappropriation.

This method ensures that the intended beneficiaries receive the full benefit.
